Frequently asked questions
Answers for lawyers, law firms and lawyers' offices: managing cases and matters with 4lawyers, the court-deadline calendar, client and document records, confidentiality and lawyer-client privilege, fees, GDPR, pricing, invoicing and notifications through the 4b2b ecosystem.
Onboarding & law firm management
How long does it take to start with 4lawyers?
A small law firm can start in a few days: create your account, add lawyers and matters, open your first cases and switch on the deadline calendar. Multi-office firms with several lawyers take one to two weeks, depending on the case volume and the integrations you want.
Can I run the firm myself, without technical skills?
Yes. Everything is managed from a simple panel: you add lawyers, clients, cases, deadlines and alerts with no code. The lawyer learns quickly and changes apply immediately.
Can I manage several lawyers and offices?
Yes. The platform supports cases assigned per lawyer, matter type and office, each with its own role-based access. It fits both a solo office and a law firm with several sites.
Does the platform work well on mobile?
Yes. The lawyer panel and the deadline calendar are natively responsive and fast on mobile — check the case, the next hearing and the documents straight from your phone before a hearing.
Cases, matters, documents & court deadlines
What does a case in 4lawyers contain?
A case gathers the client and matter details, the parties, the court, the case number, the hearing history, the deadlines, the work notes and the attached documents in one place. The lawyer opens the whole case in one click, from the case list or the deadline calendar.
How do I make sure I never miss a court deadline?
The deadline calendar centralizes every hearing and due date per case, and in-app alerts notify you before each critical date. For cases before Romanian courts, hearing dates can be synced with portal.just.ro.
How do you protect confidentiality and lawyer-client privilege?
Case data is protected by lawyer-client privilege. Access is through personal accounts of the firm's members and the connection is encrypted over HTTPS. We process the data under GDPR, as the firm's data processor.
Can I attach and organize the case documents?
Yes. You attach pleadings, briefs, judgments, contracts and correspondence straight into the case, organized by deadline and procedural stage. Everything about the matter stays in one place, easy to find.
Does the data stay with the firm?
Yes. Client and case data belongs to the firm. We act as a data processor with the security measures required by GDPR and in respect of lawyer-client privilege.
Time tracking, invoicing & pricing
Can I track time per case and invoice matters directly from the platform?
Yes. You log time on each case and bill hourly or at a fixed fee. The invoice takes the client and matter details from the case, with no double entry.
Does 4lawyers send notifications to clients?
No. Deadline alerts appear in the firm's account, for the lawyers. 4lawyers has no client portal and does not send SMS, WhatsApp or email to clients; client communication stays with the lawyer.
How much does 4lawyers cost?
Pricing depends on the plan and the size of the firm (number of lawyers and offices). See the full grid on the pricing page; all plans include case management and the deadline calendar.
How is the firm's data protected?
Access is through personal accounts and the connection is encrypted over HTTPS. The data belongs to the firm; 4lawyers processes it as a data processor under GDPR.
Support & subscriptions
How do I get started with 4lawyers?
You create an account, add lawyers, clients and matters, open your cases and set up the deadline calendar. Setup questions reach us through the contact form. More about the process on /about-us.
How does role-based access work in a law firm?
You define roles (partner, associate, secretariat, administrator) and assign cases per lawyer. Each person sees only what they need, and access to confidential documents is strictly controlled — important for respecting lawyer-client privilege.
Do you offer support after launch?
Yes. Plans include platform updates, and questions about use or setup can be sent through the form on /contact; we reply by email.
Is there a partner programme?
Yes. Partners who recommend 4lawyers to lawyers and law firms can join the partner programme, with recurring commissions and terms. Details on /partners.
